Straight out of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, Perfectly Adequate blends classic rock, alt-country, Americana, and modern favorites into a show that’s built for good times. From Tom Petty and the Rolling Stones to Wagon Wheel and A Bar Song (Tipsy), the band’s goal is simple: fill the dance floor, keep the drinks flowing, and make every event feel like a gathering of friends.
Known for their quirky, playful energy and undeniable chemistry on stage, Perfectly Adequate proves that music doesn’t have to take itself too seriously to be seriously good. It isn’t about being flawless — it’s about being real, and making every note count.
Perfectly Adequate is what happens when a group of best friends decide that making music together is the only thing that makes sense.
They are not just adequate, they are PERFECTLY ADEQUATE!
"Thank you for bringing the music (and determination!) - even the rain couldn't stop a good time. We loved having you at The Pant" - The Plant
“You guys sound amazing!” - Amy C.
“Sounds great! More than adequate” - Kimberly R.
“What fun” - Barbara E.
“Sounds great” - Geoff P.

Frontman Steve Bream is what happens when you give the class clown a microphone and tell him he’s pretty. He’s raucous, rowdy, and sometimes risqué, and he keeps things moving - if not always in the direction the rest of the band was anticipating. When his bandmates ask how to treat a song Steve has one answer: “Do what you feel” and it sums up his approach to every song in his repertoire. From laughing through “Tipsy” to raging through “Seven Nation Army” he sings everything like he feels it, because he does. His voice carries warmth, grit, and humor in equal measure, and his rhythm guitar gives the band its backbone
Steve treats every gig like he’s having a party for his friends, and audiences respond in kind. Lots of performers say “I’d love to take you home with me”, but if you’re not careful Steve just might!

Tony has been playing guitar for more than 35 years, bringing experience, versatility, and a deep love of music to every Perfectly Adequate performance. Whether he’s laying down tasteful leads, driving rhythms, or adding vocal harmonies, Tony’s musicianship helps shape the band’s signature sound.
Never one to settle for “good enough,” Tony recently raised his game by becoming a dedicated student of Sonora Guitar Intensive Music School, continuing to refine his technique, expand his musical vocabulary, and challenge himself as a guitarist. His commitment to growth proves that great musicians never stop learning.
From classic rock riffs and country twang to soaring solos and unexpected textures, Tony’s playing adds energy, creativity, and heart to every show. With tone that smolders and phrasing that cuts deep, Tony Castellano brings both bite and soul to Perfectly Adequate’s sound. His guitar work stretches from the gritty riffs of “Satisfaction” and “Seven Nation Army” to the heartfelt layers in “It’s Good to Be King.” A versatile player and occasional vocalist, Tony blends classic rock power with the feel of alt-country — adding texture, tension, and just the right amount of danger to every song

Kris Pass holds the groove together with undeniable style. Kris Pass has been surrounded by music for most of her life. Determined to learn something new, Kris picked up the bass as an adult and studied under fellow badass bassist Jane Francis, whose influence helped shape Kris’s confident, groove-driven playing style.
Her bass lines move with purpose, grounding the band through the slow burn of “Goddamn Lonely Love” and the thump of “Super 8.” As both a lead and harmony vocalist, Kris adds strength and depth to the mix — her voice warm and rich, equally at home on a haunting ballad or a rowdy rocker. She’s the heartbeat and the harmony that keep Perfectly Adequate rolling strong.

David Pass – Drums, Sound Engineer & Visual Storyteller
David Pass took a winding road to the drum throne. He grew up playing piano and performing in marching band and jazz band. Later, after his wife Kris started taking bass lessons, David began taking guitar lessons himself—not wanting to be left too far behind her rapidly growing musical talents.
When Perfectly Adequate needed a drummer, David sat down behind the kit knowing how to count to four and little more. These days, he’s responsible for keeping the beat while also serving as the band’s sound engineer, recording technician, video producer, and Steve’s personal bartender.
For David, Perfectly Adequate is about more than just music. It’s about sharing the stage with friends, making memories with his wife, keeping Steve appropriately inebriated, and being part of the kind of nights people talk about well after the last song ends.
If all that only makes the band perfectly adequate, he’s perfectly fine with that.

Michele Castellano brings balance and beauty to Perfectly Adequate’s sound. Known for harmonies that rise and fall effortlessly through songs like “If It Hadn’t Been for Love” and “That’s Where I’ll Be,” she blends texture and soul into every performance.
Recently adding keyboard duties to her growing musical toolkit, Michele’s tasteful playing adds depth and warmth to the band’s arrangements, filling out the sound without ever overpowering it. With an ear for detail and a natural instinct for tone, she turns simple choruses into something unforgettable—proof that harmony, whether sung or played, can make a song twice as powerful.

Marcene McGuire brings powerhouse vocals and infectious energy to every Perfectly Adequate performance. When she takes center stage on songs like “I Love Rock ’n Roll” and “I’m the Only One,” her confidence, attitude, and vocal strength instantly connect with the crowd. Whether she’s delivering a rock anthem or adding rich harmonies, Marcene helps create the dynamic vocal sound that sets Perfectly Adequate apart.
Off the mic, she’s rarely standing still. Marcene has a knack for making every show feel less like a performance and more like a party among friends. Her spirit, enthusiasm, and love of music help turn every Perfectly Adequate show into a shared celebration full of fun, energy, and a little bit of mischief.
